The Veloz is all-new for 2022. While it’s still based on the Toyota Avanza, the latest version is now a standalone model and not just a trim level.

The new gen Toyota Veloz features a stylish front end dominated by a high-mounted hexagonal main grille flanked by slim long LED headlamps. Moving on to the side, it gets a full-length chrome beltline trim that begins from the headlights. It also features wheel-arch extensions for that SUV-look.  At the rear, the taillights are linked by an LED lightbar. An integrated faux skid plate adds some ruggedness to the rear bumper design. All Veloz variants feature 17-inch alloy wheels shod with low-profile 205/50 R17 tires.

Inside, it follows the basic dashboard layout of the all-new Avanza, but with a more premium treatment. The restyled console features an electronic parking brake with auto hold.

In the safety department, all Veloz variants get six airbags, antilock braking system, electronic stability control, traction control, and hill-start assist. The range-topping 1.5 V variant gets blind-spot monitor, rear cross-traffic alert, and the Japanese carmaker’s Toyota Safety Sense suite of driver-assist systems, including features like lane-departure alert, pre-collision system, and automatic high-beam.

Powering the all-new Veloz is the 1.5-liter 2NR-VE gasoline mill that puts out 105hp and 138Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels through a continuously variable transmission.

Like the all-new Avanza, the new Veloz features independent MacPherson strut front suspension and a torsion beam rear setup. All variants get vented front disc brakes and rear disc brakes.
